There’s so much to a year, or a decade… It’s hard to take a few words, or even a book-full of words to surmise it and describe what it represented to you. While reading Sunshine ’69 I got a small snapshot of what life was like in those days, using the words on the web page, the media, the different characters. The mood of the “novel” (and I place quotes there because it is not what I normally consider a novel. I am very old fashioned when it comes to literature and when I conjure a thought of a novel in my mind it is a book with binds, pages and chapters. Not a media version with hyper links and no obvious order) was psychedelic and very much reflected the atmosphere of what I imagine that era to be like. But much more than just help me envision what the author was trying the convey, having this type of literature available helped me broaden my ideas of what literature actually is. Where, as I described earlier, I imagined it to be a very concrete thing, I am now able to envision many different things as a novel because of the experience that I have personally had with this story.
